Adult OT

What Adult Occupational Therapy Helps With

Occupational therapy is about the everyday things you need and want to do: looking after yourself, running your home, getting out into the community, working, studying and enjoying your hobbies. Our OTs work with adults of all ages to build skills, find easier ways to do tasks and set up equipment and home changes that support independence.

  • Personal care: showering, dressing, grooming and toileting, with strategies and equipment that make them safer and easier
  • Home tasks: cooking, cleaning, laundry and shopping, broken into manageable steps
  • Routines and planning: daily planners, reminders and systems for memory, organisation and medication
  • Fatigue and energy: pacing and energy conservation for conditions such as MS, ABI and chronic fatigue
  • Community access: public transport, shopping, appointments and social activities
  • Work, study and volunteering: planning a return and adjusting tasks and workstations
  • Home safety: falls hazards, bathroom access, rails, ramps and lighting
  • Equipment: assessing, trialling and prescribing assistive technology

Better together

OT and Exercise Physiology From One Team

Many adults benefit from both OT and exercise physiology. The OT focuses on how you do everyday tasks and your environment, while the EP builds the strength, fitness and balance that make those tasks easier. Where both services are available in your area, we coordinate them from one team, with shared goals and joint reports. How EP and OT work together →

FAQ

Adult Occupational Therapy FAQs

Do I need a referral for adult OT?
No. NDIS participants can contact us directly. We just need your NDIS details and, if you are plan-managed, your plan manager's contact details.
How is adult OT funded under the NDIS?
OT sessions are usually funded from your Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living Skills (Category 15) budget. Equipment and home modifications recommended by your OT are funded from your Capital budget.
Do you have a waitlist?
No. We can book your first visit as soon as your details and funding are confirmed.
Can I see an OT without NDIS funding?
Our OT services are funded through the NDIS or Support at Home. Without either, we provide self-funded functional capacity assessments to support an NDIS access request.
Where do sessions happen?
Mostly at home, because that is where daily tasks happen. Sessions can also happen at work, at the shops, on public transport or anywhere else linked to your goals.
